Where’s Fred: Home gearing up for a fun fall 2026

Tickets are on sale now for a flurry of dates Fred has coming up in the fall, including a big hit with his New JBs at Australia’s  Melbourne Jazz Festival, two Europe tours with his Generations Trio, and a special honor in his home state of Alabama.

Fred’s also celebrating the July 31 release of the single “Requiem for AJ,” which he wrote under a commission for the Prism Quartet’s Generate Music Project. The track features Philadelphia poet Ursula Rucker  and longtime Fred cohort David Krakauer on clarinet. Click here to learn more. 

Next up among live performances are three dates in California reuniting Martha High’s Funky Divas and his New JBsb. Two happen at the KuumbwaJazz Center in Santa Cruz on Saturday, Sept. 26, and one at the venerable Yoshi’s Oakland on Monday, Sept. 28.

On Monday, Oct. 19, Fred will perform as one of four luminaries named as 2026 Fellows by the Alabama Humanities Alliance at Alabama Colloquium: Celebration of Alabama Music, happening at the Lyric Theatre in Birmingham. 

The Alliance’s mission is to connect Alabamians: to tell stories and to listen, to share ideas and to learn, to link the past to the present, and to seek a deeper understanding of our humanity. The other 2026 fellows are Emmylou Harris, Will Kimbrough and Randy Owen. Click here to learn more.

At the start of October, thanks to the hard work of booking agent Peter Basler of Basitours, the Generations Trio will make a five-city Europe tour, followed by another tour of 12 European cities in November. Find tickets and all the dates on the calendar.
