The song, released this month, is a creation of Dr. Scot Brown, a scholar of African American Studies at UCLA, the author of numerous books and other publications, and an indie musical artist, songwriter and producer. Fred and Scot became friends when they participated together last fall in a session at the Association for the Study of African American Life and History's 107th annual meeting in Montgomery, Alabama.
