Fred traveled to the
Mississippi Delta where the
Jus' Blues Foundation honored him with the James Brown Heritage Award Saturday in Tunica. He was among soulful friends old and new during the organization's
15th annual Blues Awards Week. Attendees included
Millie Jackson,
Vasti Jackson,
Bobby Rush, and Fred's former JB compatriots
Martha High and
Vickie Anderson.
In other news, Fred ranked No. 9 in
AL.com's survey asking readers who the
Alabama Music Hall of Fame should induct next.
