Celebrating Jazz House Kids

Fred joined a plethora of musical luminaries in Newark, New Jersey, this month to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the jazz educational organization Jazz House Kids, founded by singer Melissa Walker.

Christian McBride, Walker's husband, brought his Grammy-winning Big Band and welcomed guests including Maceo Parker, Angelique Kidjo, George Duke, Pat Metheny and more. S. Epatha Merkerson of "Law & Order" fame hosted the star-studded evening on Oct. 17.

German friend Heinrich Buttler, visiting NYC from his home in Bonn, Germany, was among the supporters in attendance and took these awesome performance photos. Thanks, Heinrich!

Backstage and offstage there was more fun, including a visit with Heinrich and a bit of a trombone summit.
